The duo will collaborate for the Indian remake of Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro starrer 2015 comedy-drama ’The Intern’.
The Hollywood version portrays the story of a 70-year-old man named Ben Whittaker who applies to a senior citizen intern program post his retirement.
Both actors took to social media to announce the film. Deepika Padukone wrote: "Thrilled to present my next! The Indian adaptation of #TheIntern A 2021 release! Presented by @_KaProductions@warnerbrosindiaand @iAmAzureSee you at the movies! @chintskap."
Rishi Kapoor wrote, "Moving on to yet another journey with the Indian adaptation of #TheIntern with @deepikapadukone ! Produced by @SunirKheterpal and #DeepikaPadukone for @iAmAzure& @_KaProductions in collaboration with @warnerbrosindia@DenzD".
The Hindi adaption will be produced by Sunir Kheterpal and Deepika Padukone. The movie is expected to release in 2021 and, will be a relationship-driven film. This will be Deepika and Rishi Kapoor’s second film as earlier they were seen in the movie ‘Love Aaj Kal’.
On the work front, Deepika will also be seen in Kabir Khan’s ’83’ in which she will be seen essaying the role of Ranveer Singh’s on-screen wife Romi Dev. She is also producing a film in which she will narrate the Mahabharata from Draupadi’s point of view.
