Benedict clearly said, “Equal pay and a place at the table are the central tenets of feminism. Look at your quotas. Ask what women are being paid, and say: ’If she’s not paid the same as the men, I’m not doing it.”
Benedict Cumberbatch made his statement about equal pay during the time when Hollywood Industry is in turmoil. The statement was formed when many Hollywood big shots were claimed to have sexually assaulted their female co-stars. Many movements like ’MeToo’ and ’Time’s up’ have been running as well. This has led to a massive debate and conversations about the misbehaviors and sexual misconduct at workplaces. It shed a light on the sexism that females have to face in America and other places.
The producers of the famous Netflix show, ’The Crown’ were forced to admit the fact that the actor playing the role of Duke of Edinburgh on the show was being paid more than the actress who is playing the lead role of Queen Elizabeth II. However, on disclosure of this fact they promised to increase the pay of the actresses and especially the person playing the role of the queen.
Cumberbatch gladly exclaims that his production company mainly works with women. He was proud about the fact that his partner and he are the only men in the production team of his company. He even told about his projects related to women and motherhood.
