Xiaomi announced the Mi 8, Mi 8 Pro, Mi 8 Explorer Edition, Mi 8 SE, and Mi 8 Lite to lift the bar of cool smartphones. This review will focus on Mi 8, the name that is taken to made other versions.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Design
The Mi 8 has a superior look, with glass on front and back and a 7000 series aluminium frame. The phone gives good vibes in terms of glass design but is also inclined to smudges just like other glass body phones. The camera module at back is swelled out, making the gadget tilt when put on plain surface. The design of Xiaomi Mi 8 resembles with iPhone X which is also not denied by the company.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Display
The Mi 8 has a huge 6.21 inches (1080 x 2248p resolution + 402ppi) display. The AMOLED display produces superb splendour and lively colours. The 88.5% screen-to-body proportion, with a notch is pleasant to watch Youtube or Netflix. There is a setting feature to disable the screen covered with notch to keep the screen proportions to rectangle and withdraws unwanted attention on the notch. The Xiaomi Mi 8 display also stands out in daylight that adds to the credibility of the display.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Camera performance
The dual 12MP + 12MP camera setup of Mi 8 at the back implies that it can bring details, immersion, and different parameters for ideal shots. The AI camera is truly cool, as it wipes out the need to manually apply modes that suit to the picture.

Xiaomi claims that camera AI can recognize over 200 scenes for a perfect shot. The pictures are quite satisfactory even in low light conditions without any over light exposure or overshadowing.

Pictures are particularly fresh and striking in daylight and the camera performs the job quite well during low light conditions with distinct shots with its HDR mode.

The slow mode of a camera also goes good and sharp in general but the movements come a bit blurry which is fixed by the overall crispness of frame.

In selfie mode, the group selfie feature works especially fantastic where each subject looks extraordinary. There is hardly any need to apply modes on Xiaomi Mi 8 selfie camera. It softens the skin tone proactively which still manages to look natural and soothing.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Battery and Performance
The Mi 8 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845, 6GB + 128GB of storage, it satisfies the expectations.
Mi 8 is a brute in every instance of the task. It’s quick and has liquid-like flow, no matter what kind of task you throw at it. You would not encounter any stutter or frame drop, even during most heavy uses such as gaming.

The Mi 8 packs a non-removable Li-Po 3400mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0+ feature. The battery of Xiaomi Mi 8 keeps on going for the whole day with moderate usage of gaming, browsing, videos and camera.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Programming
Xiaomi Mi 8 uses MIUI skin with an OTA upgrade to Android Pie 9. The MIUI 9 skin of Mi 8 contains pretty cool shortcuts and features. And then there a Second Space, just to keep the images and sensitive data safe.
Additionally, Mi 8 features double GPS which uses an extra satellite input to bring about more precise location detection.

Whether to Buy Xiaomi Mi8 or Not?
The camera quality for Mi 8 is vastly improved than that of the Pocophone and is more premium in feel. It is surely a step ahead than Xiaomi’s sub-brand Poco. Mi 8 is unquestionably a leading smartphone with a positive impression in the market.
