On being asked about the reason behind becoming an actor, Ishita Dutta answered, “I came to Mumbai for my studies and after I finished my graduation, I knew for sure that I wanted to do something in the media field because I had assisted before on some film sets. But I was not very sure if I wanted to act. Somehow, my sister Tanushree knows me better than I knew myself. She told me to give it a try and suggested that I should join an acting course so that I could see how I felt about it. She said if nothing else, it would be a good experience and if things didn’t work out, I could always go back to pursuing my MBA as I was preparing for my exams at that point in time. It sounded good so I took her advice and enrolled myself into Anupam Kher’s acting academy for a part-time course which was for a month. I enjoyed it so much that I continued for another three months and after that, I was sure that this is what I wanted to do. As a person, I am an introvert but something changed. Just being in front of the camera and not being myself, made me feel so good and happy. My dad always used to say that do something which makes you happy and you enjoy doing it. I didn’t know where I was going in terms of my career but I was sure about this. That’s why I started acting and I got a few ad films and some south movies. After that, I moved to television and Bollywood.”
