Mohanlal finally opens up about #MeToo

The #MeToo movement was termed as a mere 'fad' by the Malayalam superstar, Mohanlal. According to him, this movement will die down soon.

At a press conference in Dubai, Mohanlal said, “There is no big problem in the Malayalam industry. You shouldn’t think of the #MeToo as a movement actually. It is a fad and it is turning into something of a fashion. Anything like that will have a lifespan for a bit,” to the Gulf News.
He was at UAe to attenda fundraiser Onnanu Nammal. The charity was scheduled to take place on December 7. Gulf news tried to enquire more about his thoughts on #MeToo campaign. However, the 58 year old actor tried to distance himself away from the subject by saying that he “doesn’t know much about it.”
Mohanlal further stated that even men would come recount their #MeToo moments. The actor said that he would refrain from commenting in the issue as acoording to him only those who have suffered from harrassments should speak.

Mohanlal is the president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). Due to the way it handled the attack on a female actor, the primary film body of Kerala has constantly been under fire. The association reinstated Dileep’s membership courting a major controversy under his leadership. As Dileep is a prime accused in the case, the move was perceived as anti-woman and anti-survivor.
