Realme U1 Review - Selfie Camera, Processor and Display

With Realme U1, the company has added another bright star to its portfolio. Realme U1 is the first selfie-oriented smartphone.
With a huge selfie camera, the Realme U1 also possesses the more dominant and productive, MediaTek's Helio P70 SoC. Let’s see how it fares in our scales.

Realme U1 Design
The Realme U1 is good to hold due to round edges and the back is covered with matte which removes the chances of slipping. The back and the front screen is a bit above than the round edges. The phone does not get scratch marks easily. Realme U1 is 8 mm thick, good hold and at 168g, quite agreeable.

Realme U1 Display
Realme U1 is a 6.3-inch long display, 450nit full brightness smartphone. The screen legibility in direct sunlight quite good. With a 1080x2340-pixel resolution IPS panel, the Realme U1 produces sharp pictures and distinctive colours. It also gives customization feature to set the colour scheme of the display. The display of Realme U1 is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The display takes the smudges easily. The waterdrop notch on the top of the display is better than the usual notch and disturbs less in full-screen mode.

Realme U1 Software and Features
The MediaTek Helio P70 SoC in Realme U1 gives 13 percent more efficient in execution than Helio P60, as per Realme. The processor also has improved AI processing engine for better productivity.
The phone comes in two variants - (4GB + 64GB) of capacity, and (3GB + 32GB) of capacity.

The Realme U1 Android 8.1 OS is covered with ColorOS 5.2. The ANdoird Pir update is expected. The ColorOS of Realme U1 is same as in previous phones.

Realme U1 Performance
The Realme U1 works well in day to day tasks and does not give any signs of lagging or shutter. The call quality is also good and Realme U1 runs smoothly.
During gaming, the Helio P70 of Realme U1 efficiently run almost all the games such as Asphalt 9: Legends with the High graphics setting. PUBG Mobile also runs smoothly with medium settings and gaming on Realme U1 is enjoyable. The phone gets a little warm as normal during extensive usage.

Realme U1 Camera
The phone is branded as Selfie Pro smartphone. Realme U1 selfie camera is 25-megapixel Sony IMX 576 sensor with an f/2 aperture that captures exact and detailed selfies with good skin tone and colours. The AI mode of Realme U1 in camera isn't excessively forceful and adds to enhancing the quality of pictures taken.

There is a Super Vivid mode in Realme U1 which will give more saturated colours. The depth sensor can be activated for better details.
The camera struggled a bit during low lighting conditions and even HDR shots looked faded and out of details.

The primary back camera of Realme U1 has a 13-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture. It delivers a good job in daylight but struggles during low lighting conditions. The depth sensor adds to the details in the shots. The Realme U1 camera application comes with all usual modes such as panorama, Timelapse, Professional, and Portrait. Overall the camera does a satisfactory job.

Real Me U1 Battery Life
The Real Me U1 has a 3500mAh battery that gives a good backup for the whole day during moderate use. It does not have any quick charging feature which is a disappointment however it does not that long to charge.

Whether to Buy Real Me U1 or Not?
The Real Me U1 has surely proved its on paper features with a good selfie camera and powerful processor and that too with a very competitive price. With such a capacity and comparing the market, the Real Me U1 is a good deal to go with.
